The British Ambassador hosted a Chevening dinner at the residence on 26 August 2009, to bid farewell to this year’s Chevening scholars. The list of guests included members of the Embassy and the British Council, members of the Chevening alumni association, returning Chevening scholars and scholars that are about to depart to the UK.   New scholars had an opportunity to met returning scholars and hear genuine first hand Chevening experience.

Ambassador Andrew Key presented Chevening Fellowship certificates to three returning scholars Damjan Mancevski, Mate Gjorgievski and Riste Jurukovski congratulating them on the successful completion of the programme. At the same time he wished the best of luck to the departing scholars, hoping that they use the best of their time in the UK and help bring positive changes in their professional environment upon their return to Macedonia.

The Chevening Scholarship is a world-wide scheme funded by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and administered by the British Council. Each year,  Scholarships are awarded to 6-8 candidates from Macedonia, in a variety of academic areas in the social and natural sciences, business and financial studies, and the arts.

Details of the Chevening Scholarship scheme can be obtained from the British Council Macedonia, either through their website http://britishcouncil.org/macedonia or by writing to Chevening@britishcouncil.org.mk.  We welcome applications from all communities.
