Environmental Policies & Climate Change
The EU is showing the world that it is possible to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases at the same time as enjoying continued economic growth. It also recognises that the EU, with other countries, need to go further and faster in this direction. All countries have a part to play, and indeed should benefit if they integrate low carbon objectives in their overall economic strategies.
In a stage of economic transition the challenges posed by climate change and other environmental issues are starker than ever, but the opportunities offered by potential solutions also possibly greater. A higher level of awareness of climate change and environmental issues will help Macedonia face the challenges and get the greatest benefit from the opportunities, supporting its development towards EU standards in this area.
